The value of for google rank

A few weeks back I migrated my blog, which for many years had been at to And since I have done so, I have noticed a handful of odd effects, most noticible being that many of my posts here are now showing up in the top 10 google searches for a wide variety of topics, many of which are somewhat surprising.

For example, do the google search for “OED Words” ( and note where I show up)

My old blog at doesn’t show up at all, or if it does it is many, many pages into the search results.

I had that same impression too: that blogs at is not being properly crawled by the Google search engine. Although most of us will not accept the fact that we google ourselves (and what we write), doing this exercise will lead to some small nuggets of information. And questions too, like: Does the company, whose goal is to provide the world’s information at your fingertips, even search its own servers?
